Surviving every day is a struggle for Emil, his mother, and his three siblings. To meet their basic needs, this family often seeks help from neighbors or relatives. Sometimes, to curb his hunger, Emil even has to search for leftover food in trash bins.
The difficult life deprived Emil of attention from his mother, shaping him into a child who was used to being free, playing all the time, and being lazy about school. Until one day, Indonesian Bethel Church Rock Tuapejat, which uses the Superbook curriculum, took care of Emil in the church's dormitory. Through the character and spiritual guidance at the church, Emil's change became more visible. The Bible stories from Superbook in Sunday school also became lessons that shaped Emil a lot, especially when he watched the story of the 'Tower of Babel' making him realize his bad behavior and wanted to change into a child who wanted to be led, obeyed and feared God.
Emil's behavior has been improving day by day, such as he wants to play with his friends, he will first seek permission from his caregivers. He has also become diligent in his studies, including reading the Bible.
'Praise the Lord, Emil has become an obedient child. When he wants to play, he asks for permission and no longer uses harsh language with others or his friends,' says Emil's mom.
