CBN, through Holistic Discipleship Making Ecosystem that has been continuously developed to this day, is present to equip CBN Partner churches in discipling children and their families. During this year, CBN has established 80 children's discipleship centers, that offer programs children aged 3-14 years old, such as Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Super5, Superbook Sunday School, School of Life (SOL) Learning Centers, and The Parenting Project for parental discipleship. To make a holistic impact, CBN actively supports selected children's families by providing micro-enterprise capital assistance, advancing farming communities, providing access to clean water, and supporting nutrition and health improvements.
What Have We Accomplished?
In November, we provided an overview of the discipleship ecosystem in Batubara, North Sumatra. Through partner churches, CBN continues to support the growth of every child in terms of education, character and spirituality. Difficult economic conditions have led some parents to migrate for work, leaving their children under the care of a single parent. While the busy work of parents who are mostly farmers also makes time with children very minimal. These circumstances have forced some children to lose attention and care from their parents.
Through this children's discipleship program, CBN, in partnering churches, Indonesian Bethel Church Simodong and Pentecostal Church in Indonesia El-Shadai Batubara, has served a total of 25 ECCE Super5 students, 61 Sunday School Superbook children, and 40 School of Life Learning Center students. CBN has also provided capital assistance to 10 parents of selected children to help improve the welfare of their families.
Impact of the Holistic Discipleship Making Ecosystem in Batubara
Through the network of Indonesian Bethel Church Simodong in Batubara, CBN witnessed a holistic transformation of one child and their family. Not only did the child experience a change in character, but CBN's support also improved the family's economy for the better through the provision of capital assistance.
This is the story of Sofia (12 years old), one of the Superbook Sunday School children at Indonesian Bethel Church Simodong. Her father rarely comes home as he works out of town, while her mother, Amoy, works as a farm laborer or sometimes sells breakfast during the harvest season. Often left behind by parents' work makes Sofia sad. There was a longing in her heart for her parents to have a stable business and no longer leave her and her two siblings alone at home.
Once, while watching the 'Miracles of Jesus' story during the Joyful Thursday event at Indonesian Bethel Church Simodong, Sofia's heart was touched. There was a belief that emerged and made her start praying diligently so that her family could have their own business. At one point, the church provided information about assistance from CBN, and Sofia's mother was finally selected as one of the recipients of this assistance.
With this assistance, Sofia's mother, Amoy, successfully expanded her food stall business in just two months. They now even have a permanent food stall that operates from morning to night. Over time, Amoy managed to expand her business by adding a variety of menu items, starting with selling breakfast noodles and later expanding to include meatball dishes, fried snacks, and beverages. Unexpectedly, the income from this business greatly helped Amoy meet her family's needs without having to depend on her husband's remittances or working as a farm laborer.
Sofia's prayer answered! She is grateful that the capital assistance from CBN has helped her family. Sofia is also very diligent in helping her mother while enjoying quality time together throughout the day.
