Life-Changing Discipleship

Thank you for your love, CBN continues to focus on building 77 holistic discipleship ecosystems spread across various regions, from Sabang to Merauke. This discipleship ecosystem exists to equip church networks in discipling children aged 3-14 years and their parents through ECCE of Super5, Superbook, Sanggar Belajar Anak School of Life (SOL), and The Parenting Project. CBN also provides assistance for selected underprivileged families through MSME programs, farmer groups, clean water supply, and nutrition and health improvements. The goal is to help children and their families experience a holistic transformation in physical, spiritual, and guaranteed well-being.

In July 2023, we would like to introduce the discipleship ecosystem in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra. Deli Serdang is one of the regencies in North Sumatra which is directly adjacent to Medan City. The main problem in this city is the high rate of juvenile delinquency that occurs due to problematic families (broken home, domestic violence, minimal economy) and busy working parents.

Here are the impacts of the Discipleship Ecosystem in Deli Serdang:

CBN is partnering with GBI Efata Sampali in Deli Serdang, and this month we want CBN Partners to celebrate the changing lives of a boy named Rafi and his family. Rafi is a student who actively follows guidance at Sanggar Belajar SOL Deli Serdang. Since his father and mother divorced, he and his family have lived in a rented house, where the neighborhood is filled with out-of-school and misbehaving children. In this environment, Rafi is influenced to be a child who is rude in words and likes to hit other children. So that he was shunned by his friends.

Praise God, Rafi turned into a gentle and friendly child thanks to the care and patience of SOL teachers. Throughout the first two months since he entered, teacher SOL guided Rafi to always be kind and friendly to others. With the attention given, Rafi slowly changed and no longer behaved rudely to his friends. Now Rafi is loved by his teachers and friends.

Through regular visits by teachers, we found that Rafi's mother also needed help. As a single parent, she made a living every day by selling in the market from afternoon to dawn. This forced her to leave her four children at home without supervision and attention. This job made him miss the moment to accompany and supervise the growth of his children. To overcome her problem, the SOL teacher recommended Nurmala's mother to be a recipient of business capital assistance from CBN. With this capital, he built a stall that really helped him supplement the family's income. If in the past she could go home at dawn, now Nurmala's mother only needs to go to the market to leave her merchandise in the afternoon and immediately return home so that it is time to take care of the children more at home.

Thank you CBN Partners. Your love and generosity have changed the lives of children in Deli Serdang City!
