Saputra Elihon Bunga, or familiarly called John, is a 14-year-old child who is going through a difficult time due to his illness. John is a big class student at GMIT Efrata Sunday School in Karisin Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (which is about 40 kilometers or 1.5 hours from Kupang City). However, since February 2023, John has had to battle paralysis of the right half of the body caused by abnormal heart nerve work abnormalities. His condition forced him to miss school and could only rest at home.
John felt discouraged and lost his faith in the Lord Jesus because his illness would not heal. He felt depressed and feared that he might never recover. John had even checked himself into two different hospitals before being referred to a larger hospital. However, all efforts made did not give results.
John's life changed when he attended Super Easter at his church with CBN Partner Mission Trip participants who were visiting GMIT Efrata. Daniel and the other Mission Trip participants prayed for John especially and asked John to believe that the Lord Jesus had died for him and would surely heal him. When John prayed, he felt God's power and peace in his heart. She again believed that she could be healed and was sure that the Lord Jesus was always there for her. When John returned home from Super Easter, he felt peace and courage like never before. In fact, his right hand began to be movable, and his fingers began to move. This made John even more convinced that a cure would happen, and he continued to try to recover from his illness. John underwent medication and trained to use his left hand to eat and write well.
Moment when John prayed by brother Daniel and one of CBN Partners in Mission Trip 2023
With high spirits and a strong trust in the Lord Jesus, John continued to struggle to heal. He spoke God's Word every morning and said that he was healed. Finally, after a long struggle, John managed to recover and returned to school with his body fully and intact. John was very grateful to the Lord Jesus for the love and healing given to him. He was convinced that his trials were limited to his strength and that healing would inevitably occur. John motivates all of us not to give up in the face of life's trials and always believe that God is always there for us.
