CBN Indonesia continues to focus on building a holistic discipleship ecosystem, which exists to meet the physical, spiritual and welfare needs of children and parents. In 2023, CBN will build 77 discipleship ecosystems spread across various regions, ranging from Jakarta, Madiun, Nias, Pekanbaru, Lampung, Pemantas, Kupang to Minahasa. CBN's discipleship ecosystem equips churches to disciple children and their parents through PAUD Super5, Superbook, SoL Children's Learning Center and The Parenting Project. In addition, CBN also provides economic and health assistance to selected underprivileged families through MSME programs, farmer groups, clean water supply, and nutrition and health improvement. The goal is to help children and their families experience a holistic transformation physically, spiritually and with guaranteed well-being.
In April 2023, we want to introduce a holistic disciple making ecosystem in Madiun, East Java. Madiun is a small city located on the border of Central Java and East Java provinces, where most of the people work as factory workers and some make a living by trading and becoming day laborers. GBI Rock Madiun which is a network of CBN churches is a bridge to serve children and families in Superbook and School of Life, as well as helping selected underprivileged families in SoL, with capital and business assistance programs.
Here is the transformative impact of CBN's holistic disciple making ecosystem in Madiun.
The presence of CBN's holistic discipleship ecosystem in Madiun has resulted in a transformative impact on children and their families, one of which is Farel, an active student at Superbook Sunday School at GBI Rock Madiun. Farel is the youngest child who has lost his father since kindergarten. He often plays with older children. That's why she often hits her brother if he doesn't do what Farel wants. He received less supervision because his mother was busy working as an odd laborer. But Farel began to change since watching the Superbook Animation story 'Joseph the Dream Interpreter'. Through this show, Farel witnessed how Joseph's brothers hated him, put him in a well and sold it to Egyptian merchants. At that moment Farel suddenly cried loudly because of fear that his sisters, whom he had wronged, treated Farel as Joseph's brothers did. Farel was then prayed for and guided by his teacher until he made a commitment to no longer beat his sisters and become a child who acts of love to others. Gradually Farel turned into a diligent Sunday School boy, kind to his older sisters and obedient to his mother.
Farel continues to be disciplined every day. We not only serve Farel, but also provide care for her economically disadvantaged family. Farel's mother, Sulami, is a single parent with 5 children. Her only job was a laundry worker, a delivery worker, an ironing worker, and sometimes he was also asked to clean the church. Her first child is married, and her second child has graduated from high school. But she still has the responsibility to meet the basic daily needs and school fees of her other three children. Seeing the economic burden that must be borne by Sulami's mother, GBI Rock Madiun shepherd chose her as a recipient of business capital assistance from the humanitarian division of CBN (Obor Berkat Indonesia). The business capital was used by Mrs. Sulami to buy an overlock machine that she could use for sewing. Although she had never used the machine, she was willing to learn through Youtube and was finally able to learn to install and change the function. From this sewing business, Mrs. Sulami has been able to supplement her family's income from orders such as making bags, pouches, to bed linen. Interestingly, he also earns additional income from vocations as an overlock machine technician. Now, from the results of sewing, Mrs. Sulami has been able to meet basic needs and pay for her children's schooling.
