CBN Equips Child Caregivers in Children's Learning Centers to Overcome Trauma to Children

From February 22th to 24th, 2023, child servants at the School of Life (SOL) Children's Learning Center have attended Trauma Competent Care (TCC) training in Denpasar, Bali.
TCC is a training to equip child caregivers and parents to have skills in dealing with children who have experienced emotional and character trauma. So that they can provide positive support and stable relationships to children who have certain traumas.
Throughout these three days, the child caregivers participants attended 12 sessions containing module presentations and case studies. From each session, they gained new insights on how to understand the children they serve at SoL Children's Learning Center. Considering that many of the children come from underprivileged families who are vulnerable to verbal and non-verbal trauma at home to neglect or abandonment.
Through this training, child caregivers are expected to have the ability to understand the roots of children's behavior. So they no longer choose to remove children from the classroom when they are naughty, or deliberately ignore behaviorally problematic children to the point of giving them certain labels. On the other hand, child caregivers at the SoL Children's Learning Center can help every problem child undergo a character transformation.
The child caregivers were grateful that the TCC training also reminded them that as teachers, they also need to change and recover from past trauma. So that they can build good relationships with the children they serve and become mediators in the process of restoring relationships between children and their parents.
Upon returning from this briefing, each child caregiver is committed to applying the knowledge gained to create a child-friendly environment in the SoL Children's Learning Center.
