In 2023, CBN Indonesia will focus on building a holistic disciple making ecosystem that meets the physical, spiritual and welfare needs of children and parents. In this ecosystem, CBN provides various discipleship programs for children aged 3 to 14 years and their parents, such as Superbook, SoL Children's Learning Studio, Super5 PAUD, and Parenting Program. Especially for underprivileged families, CBN also provides economic and health assistance through Micro Small Medium Enterprises programs, farmer groups, clean water provision, and improved nutrition and health. The goal is to help transform the physical, spiritual, and well-being of children and parents.
This month, we will introduce one of CBN's 31 holistic disciple making ecosystems, namely GKS Tanaraing Congregation, located in Tanaraing Village, Rindi District, Waingapu Regency, East Sumba. This village is approximately 100-kilometers from the city of Waingapu. The life of the people is very simple and far from the hustle and bustle of the city because their average occupations are farmers, fishermen, raising livestock and weaving.
Currently, the holistic disciple making ecosystem in Tanaraing serves 66 children of Superbook Sunday School, 17 children of Super5 children and 50 children of School of Life Children's Learning Center. Most of the children come from underprivileged families, abandoned by their parents and whose families are broken home. However, the Pastor of GKS Tanaraing Congregation, Rev. Katrina R. Wanu, S.Th and other teachers remained faithful to serve and guide each child spiritually, characteristically and academically. This year, CBN will also provide MSME capital assistance to underprivileged families in Tanaraing.
The following is one of the testimonies of children from GKS Tanaraing Conregation, East Sumba.
Her name is Sesilia Dubu (13 years old). She is one of the children who actively participates in guidance at the SOL GKS Children's Learning Center of Tanaraing Congregation. Since childhood, she was left by her parents and raised by her old grandfather. The absence of parental presence in Sesilia's life made her less affectionate.
However, through the SoL Children's Learning Center, Sesilia gained the attention of the teachers. She used to be dropped out from school because her books and school uniform were burned by his grandfather which was furious because Sesilia were lazy to study and disobedient. Thanks to the help of SoL teachers, she eventually returned to school. During her time with SoL, she experienced an improvement in terms of her academic knowledge. Not only that, but Sesilia also experienced spiritual growth through the spiritual guidance she got through Superbook animations.
Once, she witnessed the story of Jonah in the belly of a fish and was inspired because Jonah was used by God to call for repentance in Nineveh. Through Jonah's story, Sesilia longed to repent and could be used by God to call for repentance to others. Now Sesilia has not only turned into studious and active children, but she has also turned into a child who prays diligently. She even prayed for her mother and father so that they could come back one day. Although Sesilia deserves to be angry with her mother and father who has left her since childhood, Sesilia apparently still holds hope that her parents will return in the future. It is this hope that she always carries in her prayers.
