The media still remains a powerful weapon in preaching the gospel. Arifin Marbun, a terminal thug in Medan, watched the Superyouth show on Youtube Channel, God's Word touched his heart so he contacted Sahabat24 to be prayed for and served further.
Arifin Marbun lost his mother when he was 7 years old and his father had to wander to make a living for him and his six older siblings, making Arifin grow into a child who lacks the affection of his parents.
At the age of 12, Arifin dropped out of school. He chose to go wandering and become a terminal thug in the city of Medan. Every day, he made a living by pickpocketing, robbing, fighting. Worse, he was also a drug addict, living in promiscuity and engaging in human trafficking. The crime made him 3 times in and out of prison.
Once inside the prison he reflected on the course of his life. There was a question, 'Until when should I live like this?'
In accordance with His time, God worked upon Arifin's heart. It was no coincidence that he heard a hymn through the Superyouth show, then found a Sahabat24 Prayer & Counseling Service contact there. He contacted Sahabat24 for further prayer and service.
Out of prison, Sahabat24 introduced him to the Pastor of the Congregational Church of God (GSJA) Lilin River, Palembang to serve him. Through this spiritual guidance, Arifin wanted to open his heart to accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior. His longing to know God encouraged him to diligently read God's words every day. He even enjoyed watching various sermons from Youtube to enrich his understanding of the Bible and faith.
Thanks to the work of the Holy Spirit, Arifin's life changed completely. This previously feared terminal thug figure, is now a servant of God. Every week he actively served in the church as a musician. While every day he works as an employee in a palm oil company.
