A True Story of Ola and Her Mother's Past

Ola thought she was not the biological child of her mother due to many disciplines and rules that brought her down. She was more convinced after one of her boy friends told her about the rumor in the neighborhood, that she was a step-daughter of Madam Tuty Sofyanni, whom she lived together with. So Tuty and her husband looked for an excuse so that Ola was taken into a dormitory in Surabaya. They wouldn’t let Ola know that she was a step-daughter of this couple, since Tuty was childless. Then, Ola went to Surabaya.
Ola’s boy friend finally caught her up to Surabaya. He told Ola that there were many relatives of her biological mother in that city. Ola was more convinced that she was a step-child, and she decided to find her biological mother. Ola and her boyfriend unwittingly became closer, until Ola was pregnant.
Having heard about her daughter’s pregnancy, Tuty called Ola and her boyfriend and asked them to go home. Then, in front of them, Tuty confessed that she was childless, and she gave Ola a child care authorization letter. Later, Tuty drove Ola away. “Well, you are not my biological daughter. So you may care for your own life and I do not want to know anything about you anymore.”
“I failed to nurture my daughter. Ola’s mistake was mine, because she lacked affection and care. I was condemned, and I asked God for forgiveness,” Tuty said.
Knowing that her mother was so disappointed, Ola felt guilty. Yet Tuty has decided to forget about Ola. However, Tuty was really touched when one of her friends ask Tuty to love and forgive Ola. “In my solitude, I cried and repented. And in that moment, I had desire, I wanted to hug Ola,” Tuty expounded.
Finally, Tuty and her husband visited Ola in hospital; right after Ola has borne a baby. Ola said that her mother’s arrival really moved her. At that moment, Ola knew that she was loved by her mother. “To me, that was a miracle. I was so glad that my mother visited me, hugged me, and cried. I did not expect it before because during the nine-month pregnancy, I never met Mama,” she said.
Through forgiveness and love that were tied between Ola and her mother, Ola knew that God has returned what has been gone from her life. Tuty also realized that God’s help had enabled her to accept and forgive Ola. Now, their family is completely healed.
